In Punjab, 1,080 candidates remain in the fray after final withdrawal for the 117 seats for which polling is to be conducted on January 30. The Congress is contesting on all seats, the Shiromani Akali Dal on 94 seats while its alliance partner the BJP is contesting 23 seats. the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has fielded 110 candidates while the People's Party of Punjab is contesting on 91 seats and on the remaining seats, its partners are contesting.Meanwhile, in Uttarakhand, after withdrawal of nomination papers, election campaign is gradually picking up for 70 Assembly seats.
