<span style="color: #222222;">A total of 1040 members of five militant outfits joined the mainstream as they lay down arms in an Arms Laying Down ceremony held in Guwahati today. Of the five militant groups PDCK(People's Democratic Council of Karbi Anglong), KLNLF( Karbi Longri N.C Hills Liberation Front), KPLT( Karbi People's Liberation Tiger) KLF(Kuki Liberation Front) and UPLA (United People's Liberation Army) that were operating in the hill districts of Assam Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">With the introduction of the policy "Santrashmukt Asom" by the  Assam government the three pronged strategy of Unified Command Structure of relentless C.I Operation, Peace process and Surrender-cum-Rehabilitation the extremist related violence has come down in the state. One of the significant aspects of the formal arm laying ceremony is the joining of Ingti Kathar Songbijit who is the Chief of PDCK along with his men in the mainstream. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He was earlier Commander in Chief of the NDFB (S) faction. Rehabilitation of these members who have joined the mainstream is being done under the revised Rehabilitation Scheme for North East militants as introduced by the government. Under this scheme each member will receive Rs 6000 per month as stipend and one time grant money of Rs Four lakh at the end of three years subject to good behavior.</span><br />
