103 laboratories functional in Maharashtra where COVID-19 tests can be done: State Health Minister

Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope today said that there are as many as 103 laboratories functional  in the state  where COVID-19 tests can be done. Out of the 103, 60 are government owned, whereas the remaining 43 are private.<br />''<br />''Since May 26 to June 20, thirty more laboratories have been included, an official press statement quoting the minister said. He said, per one million population, the testing has been doubled, adding that when the first Covid positive was identified on March 9 this year, there were only two testing facilities in Mumbai and Pune.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Tope said, the state's per million population samples collected by laboratories is 5,847 as compared to the country's 4,610.   The minister said, until yesterday Seven lakh Seventy Three thousand Eight hundred and Sixty Five samples were sent for testing out of which One lakh Thirty Two thousand Seventy Five have been tested positive.</span><br />
