In West Bengal, about 100 shops were gutted in a mojor fire at Chak Bazar in Darjeeling district. According to official sources, 8 fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flame late last night. Mr. Jaswant Sinha, MP of Darjeeling has announced compensation of 50 lakh rupees from his local area Development fund to help fire sufferers.
