100 percent FDI allowed for commercial mining, says Coal and Mines Minister Pralhad Joshi

<span style="color: #222222;">The Government today said it has taken several steps to ramp up domestic coal production in the country. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Coal and Mines Minister Pralhad Joshi said 100 percent Foreign Direct Investment is allowed for commercial mining. The major initiatives taken to increase domestic production of coal include Single Window Clearance.  <br />''<br />''On the import of coal by the power sector, the Minister said, it has increased in the power sector. As against the total import of 27 million tonnes by the power sector in the entire year of 2021-22, the import of coal in the first seven months increased to around 39 million tonnes.  Mr. Joshi, however, said, much of the increase in imports has gone to feed domestic coal-based plants.</span><br />
