100 Pakistan soldiers buried alive in snow avalanche

Atleast 100 Pakistan Army soldiers including some senior officials were buried under snow when an avalanche hit their camp in the Siachen sector. Some reports suggest as many as 130 soldiers were engulfed by the avalanche and other reports have put the death toll at over 150. The avalanche hit a battalion headquarter at Gyari in the Siachen sector of Pakistan in the Karakoram range of the Himalayas at 6 am yesterday. A rescue operation is on and the Pakistan military has sent helicopters, sniffer dogs and troops to the area to help rescue operations. Northern Command Army Spokesperson Colonel J.S.Brar said that Indian troops are completely unaffected and safe.
