At least 13 people have been killed in the latest sectarian violence to hit central Nigeria. Officials said Muslim herdsmen raided a Christian village south of the city of Jos early today, setting homes on fire and attacking people with machetes as they ran outside. Witnesses said the attackers were disguised as soldiers. More than 200 people, mostly Christians, died in attacks on three other villages south of Jos earlier this month. More than 300 people, mostly Muslims, were killed during violence in January.Jos and its surrounding areas have a history of sectarian violence, fueled in part by competition for control of fertile farmlands.
