10 people killed in Assam in violence over border dispute with Arunachal

In Assam, 10 persons were killed and 8 others injured after miscreants from Arunachal Pradesh attacked villagers at Chauldhua under Bihali forest area in Sonitpur district. 3 people are reported to be missing.

The injured are undergoing treatment at various hospitals. Commissioner-Secretary of Home Department said that the incident occurred due to a boundary related conflict between Assam and Arunachali people bordering Sonitpur district.

Eye witnesses say that over 100 people attacked the villagers. It is learnt that miscreants used single and double barrel guns.

Meanwhile, opposition Asom Gana Parishad and BJP have condemned the incident and demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi for his alleged failure to maintain law and order.
