10 Malaysians arrested in New Zealand over drug smuggling

In New Zealand, a group of 10 Malaysians have been arrested attempting to enter the country with methamphetamines hidden in their shoes. New Zealand Customs officials on Wednesday said the smugglers, eight men and two women, were intercepted at Auckland airport on Tuesday. Customs drug investigations manager Mark Day said the arrests represented the most drug couriers ever caught in a single bust at the New Zealand border. Mr. Day said each of the alleged couriers were carrying between 800 grams and one kilograms of methamphetamine in their shoes. He has put the estimated street value of the haul at around 8.1 million US dollars.
