A suicide bomber today rammed his explosives-laden vehicle into a security check post in Pakistan's restive Swat valley killing at least 10 people and injuring 13 others. The suicide attacker struck the check post in Mingora, the main city in Swat district, around 9 am local time. The check post was manned jointly by army soldiers and policemen. Two security personnel were among those killed in the attack. The wounded persons were taken to nearby hospitals. Five cars were destroyed in the powerful blast. The attack caused panic in the area and hotels and shops shut down soon after the blast. The government circuit house, which is currently being occupied by the army, and the district courts are located a short distance from the site of the blast. No group claimed responsibility for the attack so far.The attack in the Swat follows the attack in Lahore that was rocked by seven blasts yesterday including twin suicide attacks by Taliban terrorists claiming the lives of 48 people including ten soldiers and injuring 100 others.
