Report say that ten people were killed and 30 others injured when Israel Navy troops opened fire on pro-Palestinian activists aboard a six-ship aid flotilla sailing for the Gaza Strip. Turkey's NTV reported today that the incident occurred after the convoy ignored orders of Israeli navy to turn back. The Israeli Defence Forces denied any firing but confirmed that two navy commandos had been wounded in fight, which broke out after activists tried to seize their weapons. Meanwhile, the Israeli ambassador to Turkey has been summoned to the Turkish foreign ministry after the incident. A Turkish diplomat has said that will convey our reaction in the strongest terms. There are also reports of demonstration outside Israeli Consulate in Istanbul protesting the incident. The six-ship flotilla, which is carrying 10,000 tons of humanitarian aid and supplies to Gaza is trying to draw attention to Israel's three-year blockade of the Gaza Strip. The six-ship flotilla began the journey from international waters off the coast of Cyprus on Sunday after two days of delays. Israeli Foreign Ministry earlier said that effort of flotilla to enter Gaza is a violent attempt to provoke Israel and it will not permit any infringement of its sovereignty, on land, in the air and at sea. It also said that after a security check, permitted humanitarian aid confiscated from the boats will be transferred to Gaza through authorized channels.
