10 killed in Bangladesh trains collision

In Bangladesh, two trains collided head on Wednesday evening at a railway station at Narsingdi 55 km northeast of the capital Dhaka. According to initial reports, more than ten people have been killed and 50 injured in the accident involving the Chittagong bound intercity train 'Mahangar Godhuli' which rammed into Dhaka bound train 'Chattala Express'. The number of casualties is likely to increase with local media agencies reporting that more than five compartments having been severely damaged. Rescue trains have been rushed to the spot while local authorities have taken steps to rush the injured to the hospital. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed profound shock at the loss of lives in the tragic train accident. The Prime Minister directed the authorities concerned to put their utmost efforts in conducting rescue operation soon along with providing adequate treatment to the injured ones.
