At least ten people killed and more than 40 injured in a rail accident at panki Railway station near Kanpur. According to North Central Railway that New Delhi-Allahabad bound Prayagraj Express was stationed at Panki Railway station which was hit behind by Gorakhpur bound Gorakhdham Express.The spokesperson of North Central Railway told AIR Allahabad Correspondent that at least ten people have been killed and more than 40 injured in this Accident. Out of ten casualties, 8 were women. The injured had been admitted to various hospitals in Kanpur.<br/><br/>Due to this accident several important down line trains are stuck at various places on Delhi-Kanpur route. The railway spokesperson said traffic on this down line route has completely on halt. UP line trains are now moving. The railway is trying to restore the services through North eastern railway route and some trains are diverted or being diverted to Kanpur via shikohabad and Farrukhabad rail route. Meanwhile Railways have instructed Commissioner, Rail security P K Bajpai to investigate this accident.<br/><br/>The important trains which have been affected are Jharkhand Express, Reewa Express, Jodhpur-howarha Express, Brahamputra mail, North-East Express, Puroshottam Express, Sangam Express, Mahananda Express, shram Shakti Express and others.<br/><br/>The initial indications’ are showing that the accident occurred due to dense fog and it might possible that due to poor visibility driver couldn’t able to see the signal, the spokesperson said.<br/><br/>Meanwhile rail Minister has announced Rupees ten lakh compensation to next to kith and kin who died in this tragedy. Rupees one lakh for those who got serious injuries while Rs ten thousand each for passengers with minor injuries.<br/><br/>In another accident which occurred in morning near Sarai Bhupat rail station near Etawah where stationary Magadh Express was hit from rear side by Lichhavi Express. In this accident no casualty has been reported but the driver of Lichhavi Express is seriously injured.<br/><br/>In third rail accident in Northern railway when -Allahabad bound Saryu express hit a tractor trolley at a unmanned rail crossing near Vishwanath ganj railway station under Pratapgarh district but no one injured in this accident.<br/><br/>The North central railway spokesperson said that since last night failure in the Northern grid several trains were running behind the schedule and many were stationed at different places; beside this dense fog the movements of trains become more difficult in Northern parts. The spokesperson said however that the exact cause of accident would be known after inquiry.<br/><br/>Meanwhile senior BJP leader Dr Murli Manohar joshi who was also travelling in the ill-fated Prayagraj express reached Allahabad via road. ‘He is fine ‘, Dr Joshi’s personal secretary told to Allahabad correspondent .
