10 killed & 19 injured in China road rear-end collisions

In China, at least 10 people have died and 19 injured in a series of rear-end collisions, involving at least 100 vehicles, on a highway in east Jiangxi Province. The crashes occurred this morning at various sites on the Poyang Lake Bridge, part of the Jiujing Highway linking Jiujiang City to Jingdezhen City. Officials said the low visibility in the heavy fog and the ice on the bridge were blamed for the accidents. The fog lifted at noon, but the ice remained. Rescue operations are continuing.
