In Assam, a person was killed and two others injured in an IED blast at Krishnai in Goalpara district this morning.

Additional DGP, A P Rout said that banned outfit ULFA planted the bomb in a cycle and kept it near Krishnai police station.

He also said that ULFA was desperate to show their strength after security forces killed ULFA cadres recently in Goalpara.

The injured persons are undergoing treatment in Goalpara. Assam Home Commissioner G D Tripathi also confirmed that ULFA was involved in the explosion.

He said, security forces have been alerted across the state after the blast. Mr.Tripathi said compensation will be given to the next of kin of the deceased as per official norms. Local people have protested the blast.
