In Jammu and Kashmir, a suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant was killed in an encounter today with security forces in the Sopore town of Baramulla district. Official sources said, acting on a tip-off about the presence of some Lashkar militants in Baghat-e-Batpora locality in Sopore, a joint team of police and Rashtriya Rifles cordoned off the area. When security personnel were busy in house-to-house searches to flush out the militants, the latter opened fire on the search party triggering a gunbattle.The gunfight was going on when last reports were received late in the afternoon.
