1 killed 11 injured in Ludhiana violence, fresh curfew imposed

In Punjab, one person was killed and eleven got injured in Ludhiana on Saturday when police opened fire on members of some organisations which were protesting against holding of Satsang by another organisation in the city. Police opened fire to disperse the mob which tried to march towards the venue of satsang.Meanwhile organisation holding satsang have cancelled a satsang scheduled for tommorrow.<br/><br/>Official sources said that now situation is tense but under control and police and para military forces have been deployed in the affected areas.<br/><br/>Meanwhile curfew was imposed in some more areas of the city today and the curfew was relaxed from 8.30 in the morning to 5.00 in the evening where it was imposed on Friday. Curfew was not relaxed in two areas.<br/><br/>Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has appealed to all religious and social organizations and political parties in the state to play a constructive and pro-active role in maintenance of peace and amity among the people. He described the incidents in Ludhiana today most unfortunate and painful and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of a life in firing.<br/><br/>Punjab government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the entire sequence of events in Ludhiana on Saturday. Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana has been directed to ensure prompt medical treatment at government expense to those injured in today’s incident.<br/>
