1 injured as Japanese oil tanker blasts near Strait of Hormuz

A Japanese oil tanker blasted near the Strait of Hormuz today leaving one person injured. The tanker was heading towards Japan after loading crude oil in the port of Das Island in Abu Dhabi of the United Arab Emirates when the blast took place. A publicity official of the shiping company said the crude oil tanker M. Star was damaged but the engine was not affected. Mr. Kenji Yoshimura said the explosion did not lead to an oil leakage. He said a total of 31 Indian and Filipino crew members were aboard the ship adding that 15 are Indians and 16 are of Philippine nationality. The injured one is Indian.
