1.5 Mega Watt hydro power plant in J&K becomes first project under PM's Ladakh Renewable Energy Initiative

The small hydro power plant of 1.5 Mega Watt in Kargil, Jammu and Kashmir becomes the first project to be commissioned under Prime Minister's Ladakh Renewable Energy Initiative.<br/><br/>The total cost of the project is 17 crore rupees and it will meet power requirement of about one thousand families. Power Ministry in a release said, the plant will power the Drass town in Kargil, which is one of the coldest places in India. <br/><br/>The project has been developed by Kargil Renewable Energy Development Agency under Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council.
